If it feels like the school year is never going to end, then it must be May, the longest month for millions of school children and teachers across the nation.

After a hectic start to the school year in Southwest Florida with Hurricane Ian, it is less than a month until the final bell rings for Collier County Public Schools and its more than 46,000 students.

As these final days of school approach and summer vacation looms in the near distance, here's what you need to know about the last day of school for your student.

When is the last day of school?

The last day for every Collier County Public School school is Friday, June 1. Due to the amount of instructional time in the first semester, there was no impact on the scheduled Hurricane Make-Up days, and the year ended on time.

When is the last early dismissal day?

June 1 will be the final early dismissal day for the 2022-2023 school year. There will also be an early dismissal day on May 26 for graduation.

When do seniors graduate?

Here is the schedule for graduations:

  • Immokalee Technical College, 6 p.m., Immokalee High School auditorium, 701 Immokalee Drive, Immokalee.

  • Lorenzo Walker Technical College, 6 p.m., dining room, 3702 Estey Ave., Naples.

  • Palmetto Ridge High School, 6:30 p.m., Suncoast Arena, 13351 FSW Parkway, Fort Myers.

Friday, May 26

What's the situation with summer school in Collier County?

Summer school for Collier County students will last from Monday to Thursday, June 12 through July 13. Each school level has different start times:

  • Elementary School - 8:40 a.m. - 1:10 p.m.

  • Middle School - 9:25 a.m. - 1:55 p.m.

  • High School/Alternative School - 7:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

When is it time to go back to school for Collier County?

The first day of the 2023-2024 school year is on Aug.10 for students.

Breaks to look out for in the 2023-2023 school year

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Sept. 25 in observance of Yom Kippur.

  • Schools are closed on Tuesday, Sept. 26 for a Teacher Professional Development Day.

  • Quarter 1 ends on Friday, Oct. 13.

  • There are no classes on Monday, Oct. 16 for a teacher planning day.

  • There are no classes on Wednesday, Nov. 1 for a Teacher Professional Development day.

  • Hurricane make-up days on Monday, Nov. 20 - Tuesday, Nov. 21.

  • Thanksgiving break is Monday, Nov. 22 - Friday, Nov. 24.

  • Winter break is from Tuesday, Dec. 19 through Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

  • Quarter 2 ends on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, which is also an early dismissal day.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

  • There are no classes on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, for a teacher planning day.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, in observance of Presidents' Day.

  • Spring Break is from Monday, March 11 - Friday, March 16, 2024.

  • Quarter 3 ends on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

  • There are no classes on Friday, March 22, 2024, for a teacher planning day.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, April 1, 2024, in observance of Easter.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, May 27, 2024, in observance of Memorial Day.

  • The last day of the 2023-2024 school year is May 30, 2024.
