Doe's Eat Place in Springfield announces it is permanently closing

A well-known Springfield steakhouse will be permanently be closing March 6.

Doe’s Eat Place took to its Facebook page on Monday to announce its upcoming closure.

According to the Facebook post, Doe's had several reasons for deciding to close its doors on North Glenstone Avenue after five-plus years, mainly related to the COVID-19 pandemic — like rising prices for supplies and the changing labor market.

"As sad as it makes us to share this news with everyone, we are proud of all the hard work and growth that has gone in to Doe’s over the last five years," the post read. "We have been fortunate to work together with over a hundred talented individuals to serve some of the best steaks in Springfield. It has been our pleasure to work with local charities, provide meals to those in need through Safe to Sleep women’s shelter, and keep Springfield looking good by cleaning up trash in the city."

"It was just hard to get staffed and people in the door during these times," Rodgers said.
