Ask any student, parent or teacher in Florida: School years seem to get longer every year. Especially when pandemics and tropical storms get in the way.

But now, finally, it's less than a week away until the final bell rings for Flagler County public schools and its more than 13,000 students.

As these final days of school approach and summer vacation looms in the near distance, here's what you need to know about the last day of school for your student.

When is the last day of school?

The last day for every Flagler County Public School school is Friday, May 26. It will be an early-release day and students will leave school approximately an hour early.

When do seniors graduate?

Graduation for Matanzas and Flagler-Palm Coast high schools will be held Tuesday, May 30, at the Ocean Center, 101 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach. The events will be livestreamed.

Does Flagler County offer summer school?

Flagler County schools offer a summer camp for students in K-5 for the 2023-2024 school year, at Old Kings Elementary School, 301 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach. The summer camp runs from June 5 to July 28, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

When does school begin again in Volusia County?

Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Breaks to look out for in the 2023-2024 school year:

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

  • There are no classes on Monday, Oct. 16 for a teacher planning day.

  • There are no classes on Friday, Nov. 10 for Veterans Day.

  • Thanksgiving break is Monday, Nov. 20 - Friday, Nov. 24.

  • Holiday break is from Monday, Dec. 25 through Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. Classes resume Jan. 5.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

  • Schools are closed on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, in observance of Presidents' Day.

  • Spring Break is from Monday, March 18 - Friday, March 22, 2024. Classes resume Apr. 1.

  • The last day of the 2023-2024 school year is May 23, 2024.
