Netflix's Virgin River landed back on our screens last week, with the much-anticipated season four arriving with *all* the drama.

Fans have, of course, had plenty to say about the new series - with many viewers sharing the same complaint over one particular detail. And it doesn't stop there, as there have been a whole load of twists and turns to take in throughout the latest instalment.

So, if you're in need of a guide, here's a run through of exactly what went down during the Virgin River season four finale...

Virgin River season four ending, explained

First up, one huge question for viewers surrounded the father of Mel's baby, with a paternity test confirming that Jack is indeed the dad. And that wasn't it for happy news, with the couple ending up getting engaged before results of the test came through.

However, there was some surprising news thrown into the mix too, with Charmaine revealing that Jack actually isn't the father of her twins. The season leaves it there on a cliffhanger (why?!), so here's hoping we'll find out the identity of the twins' real father come season five.

Baby drama aside, there was more turbulence for Paige and Preacher. The S4 finale saw the pair having a run-in with Vince, ultimately ending his threatening hold over the family. Vince wanted Paige to trade herself in in exchange for Christopher's safety - but Preacher saved the day by knocking Vince out in order to stop him killing Paige, although it's not clear whether he's dead or not.

Still, although Preacher went above and beyond to save Paige, it doesn't look like a happy ending is guaranteed for these two, with Preacher appearing to have feelings for Julia.

There was more Vince drama too - with Wes' twin finally revealed as Jack's shooter. A flashback confirmed what happened during the shooting, with Vince originally going to Jack's Bar to find Preacher. He instead ended up in a fight with Jack, eventually shooting him.

On top of all that, season four's final episode saw yet another mystery cleared up. This time, it's focused on Doc's grandson, Denny. Viewers were previously confused over Denny's intentions after he first arrived in town, thinking that he may be up to no good. However, the finale revealed the truth behind Denny, with the character announcing that he is tragically suffering from Huntington's disease (a progressive brain disorder). This explains why he doesn't want to look ahead to a future with Lizzie, with Denny sadly revealing that he doesn't have a future of his own.

So many answers (and somehow still so many questions). Season five, we're ready.
