The neighbor said the family’s dog and three young children were possibly still inside the home. Crews arrived to find flames engulfing the right side of the multi-level house. A search was conducted and no one was found inside, WCFR reported.

Family members later located the children at a friend’s house down the road. The neighbor was reportedly able to get the dog out of the home safely.

The blaze was extinguished in about 20 minutes, which prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the home, according to WCFR.

“Getting a call like this is never easy,” WCFR Fire Chief Tracey Vause said in the release. “Knowing children could be trapped inside a burning home is one of the scariest thoughts as a firefighter. Fortunately, this crew worked quickly and thoroughly, ensuring everyone was safe and saving the home from being completely destroyed.”

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical problem. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.
