Dog attacks 2 at Richland County Dog Shelter

Two people were attacked by a dog at the Richland County Dog Shelter on Dec. 18, including a deputy dog warden.

“On Saturday, Dec.18, a dog receiving care and shelter at the Richland County Dog Warden’s Department attacked a department volunteer, Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero said.

"A Richland County deputy dog warden came to her aid, but was injured in the process by the dog. Health care personnel treated the volunteer who continues to spend time at the department. The deputy is scheduled to return to work in mid-January. Unfortunately, as a result of the incident a local veterinarian had to euthanized the dog,” Vero said Tuesday in an emailed statement.
