William Lewis Judy established National Dog Week, which occurs annually Sept. 20-27, in 1928 as a way to celebrate our beloved canines.

The week has passed, but it's never too late to celebrate your fur baby or adopt a new best pal. However, before you sign on the dotted line, it's important to research dog breeds and their unique needs. Out of 200 purebred dog breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club, less than a handful were the most frequently searched online.

Based on Google search data compiled over the last five years, bulldogs are the most-searched dog breed in the U.S. in all but 13 states. So, what dog breeds get the most searches in Ohio and its nearby states? Take a look below.
