Dogs fly high at Alliance park event, dedication
Dogs were the stars Sunday at Coastal Pet-Burnell Dog Park in Alliance during the Bark in the Park event. Performance Dogs of Ohio played with Jackal, Biscuit and Chai, pups who performed tricks with Frisbees and also on an obstacle course. Alliance Police Department K-9 Xander also was on hand to show his skills during a demonstration with Detective Bob Rajcan. Xander’s handler, K-9 Officer Anthony Palozzi, also was on hand at the event, helping Alliance Mayor Andy Grove cut the ribbon on “Pawprint Park,” a memorial to fallen city K-9 officers. Rajcan was a member of the K-9 unit for nine years as handler of Papi, a police dog remembered on the memorial wall. Coastal Pet-Burnell Dog Park is part of the City of Alliance’s Parks and Recreation Department, and features sections for large and small dogs. There’s also another section that offers a spot for quiet reflection on lost pets. Sunday’s event started with a pet parade that moved from the Dog Park around the Kohl’s plaza, and back to the park.
