Is Brightline pet friendly? Are dogs allowed on the trains?

Your furry friend doesn't have to be left behind! Dogs and cats are allowed on Brightline trains. The website's pet policy says that pets must be leashed or crated while in Brightline stations and on trains. The West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale stations have pet relief areas.

Much like booking an in-cabin pet with an airline, passengers must add a pet to their ticket during the ticket reservation process. It's safe to say that if you're traveling with your dog or cat, buying a ticket online ahead of time would be ideal for smooth travels. Pet tickets from one of Brightline's South Florida stations to its new station in Orlando cost $45 and pet tickets within and between Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach cost $10.

"Availability is limited and based on a first come, first served basis at the time of booking," Brightline's terms of service says. "Failure to add your dog and cat to your reservation may result in refusal to allow your pet on the train. Fees may apply."

All dogs and cats planning to board the high-speed rail should be up-to-date on vaccinations and have a "fit to travel" certificate from a veterinarian. Brightline workers are allowed to request both from any passenger with a pet on their reservation.
