The Department of Justice has decided not to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey, despite concluding that his handling of memos on his White House meetings with President Trump had violated FBI policy.

The handwritten memo detailed a conversation in which Comey said the president had asked him to drop the FBI's investigation into then-national security adviser Michael Flynn's Russian contacts.

Investigators concluded that Comey had broken several rules about handling confidential information.

One involved Comey's decision to keep the memos at home& and talk to his lawyers about them& without telling the FBI.

Another involved the former FBI director's decision to share the memos with a friend, who leaked details to the New York Times. .. leading eventually to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller .

FBI officials failed to establish that Comey shared any US secrets with the media..

But Inspector general Michael Horowitz still had some scathing criticism for Comey...saying he had set a "dangerous example" for FBI employees in an effort to "achieve a personally desired outcome."

And President Trump once again blasted Comey on Twitter.

Comey quickly responded to the report on Twitter quoting that portion of the report and adding "I don't need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a 'sorry we lied about you' would be nice," he wrote.

President Trump fired Comey in May 2017, later saying the Russia probe had been in his mind when he made the move&
