  • At 76, she continues to be the witty, hard-working artist we know and love.

The Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, turned 76 on January 19. And what better way to celebrate than by posing in her birthday suit?

That’s right, the “Jolene” singer honored the milestone with a throwback Instagram photo in which she wore a bright pink satin matching set lined with red lace—complete with her staple long nails (which she often uses as instruments) and matching jewelry. “Just hangin’ out in my birthday suit!” she captioned the post.

We’ve always known Ms. Parton to be a clever, funny woman, and even at 76, she continues to keep us on our toes. Of course, her fans and followers flooded her with birthday wishes and loving words of kindness.

“Cutest 💕😍💗🥰💘 happy birthday you living legend,” one person commented. “Happy birthday dear, thank you for being an inspiration to us all, you are an icon!!” another added. “Happy birthday you wonderful humanitarian, amazing artist, and overall beautiful person ❤️,” someone else wrote.

Not that we're surprised, but Parton isn’t letting anything—her age, a pandemic, nothing!—get in the way of making music and doing what she loves. She’s kind of a confessed workaholic (who gets up at 3 a.m. every morning!) and it shows—she just released a new song, “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans,” and her latest album, Run, Rose, Run is available for pre-order now. It’s a companion album to the thriller novel she’s releasing in collaboration with James Patterson with the same name.

This year marks a unique birthday for Parton. Some might recall that she wanted to pose for Playboy (for the second time) last year for her 75th, but the magazine had unfortunately stopped printing. So she compromised—and dressed up as a Playboy bunny for her husband Carl Dean’s birthday a few months later.

And instead of getting another glamorous cover on her 75th, the world got something much more meaningful from the country star. She wrote an open letter to fans reminding them to always reach for compassion. It was her only birthday wish.

“My wish is that everyone does something a little different today. Let’s call it a call for kindness,” she wrote on her official website. “If you want to donate to your favorite cause, then donate. If you want to give an old friend a call during these lonely times, give them a call. If you can safely volunteer, then raise your hand to do so. If you decide that today is the day you get a dog, then run down to the shelter and find your new buddy. The choices are limitless.”

She continued: “I always encourage people to dream big but I also take great care to follow that up with the message to work hard. We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. We have to work to dig it out so we can share it with our family, our friends, and our neighbors. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love. Love is more contagious than a virus so let your best self shine in a glorious light and others will be inspired by you.”

A year later, her message certainly still rings true. We can’t wait to see what this year brings for the megastar.

Happy birthday, Dolly
