Dolphins and Birds 'Feast' in Unison in California Waters

A pod of dolphins and a flock of birds were seen diving into the waters off the coast of Dana Point, California, as they competed for a “feast” of food under the waves.

Dana Wharf Whale Watching’s chief operating officer Donna Kalez told Storyful that the footage was shot on May 10, and explained that the video “shows a feeding frenzy”, something which she often sees happening “when there is a ton of bait fish in the water”.

This prompts, she said, “birds and dolphins and sea lions” to all “feast on” the available food.

Kalez added, “you can’t see it in the water but there is a tremendous amount of small bait like anchovy and sardines just below the surface.” Credit: DanaWharf.com via Storyful
