Dolphins defensive coordinator candidate Leslie Frazier joining Seahawks staff

Leslie Frazier, a candidate for the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator job, is joining the Seattle Seahawks staff as assistant head coach, NFL Network reported Friday.

Frazier, whom Miami reportedly interviewed, is the third candidate who has surfaced for the Dolphins’ opening that has taken a job elsewhere. Bobby Babich and Chris Shula remained with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, respectively, and received promotions to defensive coordinator.

Frazier, 64, spent the 2023 season away from the game after leading the Bills’ defense for six years. Miami also interviewed Frazier for its head coaching vacancy in 2022 before ultimately hiring Mike McDaniel.

The other candidates for the Dolphins’ opening include former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, outside linebackers coach Ryan Slowik, linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, Baltimore Ravens assistant head coach/defensive line coach Anthony Weaver and Houston Texans linebackers coach Chris Kiffin.

NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reported that Weaver is emerging as the front-runner and is ultimately expected to land the position.

Dolphins assistant joining Fangio in Philadelphia

Dolphins safeties coach Joe Kasper is leaving Miami to join Vic Fangio’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles in the same role, NFL Network reported Friday.

Kasper spent one season with the Dolphins. He heads back to Philadelphia, where he worked as a defensive quality control coach in 2021 and 2022.

The Eagles hired Fangio as their defensive coordinator last week, days after he and the Dolphins mutually parted ways.
