Dolphins make offensive linemen moves, adding former Patriots starter before mandatory minicamp

A day before their mandatory offseason minicamp begins, the Miami Dolphins made a swap of offensive linemen on their roster.

The Dolphins signed offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor and waived tackle Timon Parris on Monday.

Eluemunor, a London native who was a fifth-round pick in 2017, has played in 39 games with 11 starts in his NFL career for the Baltimore Ravens from 2017-18 and New England Patriots from 2019-20.

He played in 12 games with eight starts for New England last season, appearing at left and right tackle, and was called for just one penalty.

Eluemunor’s fascination with American football coincidentally came during a Dolphins game against the New York Giants in 2007, during Miami’s one-win season.

In a story with SkySports.com, he said:

“It’s funny, the way I got into it was this: I went home one night, I flipped on TV and I saw the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants playing. Eli Manning- he must have been so young. That game was at Wembley. I loved the way they were hitting each other, the intensity.

“I began googling American football and got more into it. I first wanted to be a quarterback because I learned about Sam Bradford on the internet and I liked him when he was at Oklahoma. But I was a 5′11′', 300-pound kid so....”

Eluemunor moved to the states at age 14, and played college football at Texas A&M. The 6-foot-4, 335 pound offensive tackle will likely compete for one of the backup roles, if not a practice squad spot when training camp begins in late July.

Austin Jackson, D.J. Fluker, Liam Eichenberg, the Dolphins’ 2021 second-round pick, and Robert Hunt are all competing to determine who will start at both offensive tackle spots. Hunt is also being cross-trained to play offensive guard and could be viewed as a starter there.

Larnel Coleman, the Dolphins’ 2021 seventh-round pick, Adam Pankey, a fourth-year veteran who was re-signed this offseason, and Jonathan Hubbard, who spent most of last season on Miami’s practice squad, are competing for the backup roles at tackle.

Parris’ time with the Dolphins barely lasted a month. He signed with the team on May 20. Parris spent last season on the practice squads with Washington and Cleveland. He played four career games with Washington from 2018-19.

The Dolphins’ minicamp begins Tuesday and runs until Thursday, before the team breaks for the rest of the offseason until training camp in late July/early August.
