Dolphins place Jackson on injured reserve, sign former overall No. 1 pick Eric Fisher

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Dolphins are placing Austin Jackson on injured reserve and signing Eric Fisher in a swap of offensive tackles drafted in the first round.

Jackson has an ankle injury and has appeared in only two games this season. He did not play in Sunday's 33-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Fisher, 31, was the first overall pick in 2013 by the Chiefs out of Central Michigan.

He was chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2020 and has played in 132 career games with 128 starts, including 111 at left tackle and 17 at right tackle.

He helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl after the 2019 season.

He last played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. Pro Football Focus rated him 86th of 121 offensive tackles last year.

Jackson was Miami’s 18th overall pick in 2020. Fisher becomes the sixth former No. 1 overall pick to play for the Dolphins.
