Dolphins place second in union survey of which NFL teams give players best resources

Just in time for teams to reload in free agency and the draft, the Dolphins received welcome news from players who graded the organization’s resources among the best in the NFL.

The Dolphins placed second to only the Minnesota Vikings in a survey of 1,300 players conducted by the NFL Players Association on items such as training facilities, travel and ownership. The union’s stated goal is “to not only help them make important career decisions, but also help raise standards across the league.”

The Dolphins were the only organization to receive five A-plus grades. Only a C+ in “treatment of families” prevented Miami from joining the Vikings as the only organizations to earn straight A's.

The Dolphins received an A-plus for their weight room, strength coaches, training room and training staff and locker room. They received an A for food and team travel. The only blemish was the C-plus, placing them 18th in the league for treatment of families, which largely surrounded limited access in the postgame area.

Also, 97 percent of respondents said they believe owner Stephen Ross is willing to invest in upgrading the facilities, ranking eighth in the category. That’s not surprising given that the Dolphins just finished their second season in a $135 million, 125,000-square-foot training facility on the Hard Rock Stadium grounds.

Buffalo ranked ninth overall and second among AFC East teams. The Jets were 19th and Patriots placed 24th.

Washington, owned by embattled Daniel Snyder, placed last in the NFL. The Commanders received an F in treatment of families, training room, locker room and team travel. The only outlier was an A-plus for strength coaches.
