Dolphins promote Ford to active roster, waive Sinnett. Tom elevated for game vs. Falcons
The Dolphins have promoted wide receiver Isaiah Ford from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Saturday.
To make room for Ford on the 53-man roster, the Dolphins waived quarterback Reid Sinnett.
The Dolphins had used the maximum of two free practice-squad elevations on Ford the last two weeks. Under NFL rules, a player on the practice squad can be elevated to the game-day roster twice and revert to the practice squad without having to clear waivers. After that, if they are elevated, they must clear waivers before resigning to the practice squad.
In two games this season, Ford has caught one pass for 3 yards. His promotion adds depth at wide receiver, where fellow wideouts DeVante Parker and Preston Williams are questionable to play because of their respective injuries. Will Fuller, who was placed on injured reserve with a broken finger in Week 5, is eligible to return next week.
Sinnett was promoted to the active roster in Week 3 and had served as the backup to Jacoby Brissett while Tua Tagovailoa was sidelined with fractured ribs. If unclaimed on waivers, Sinnett may sign back to the team’s practice squad.
The Dolphins also elevated center Cameron Tom for Sunday’s game. Tom was also elevated to the active roster for the team’s game against the Indianapolis Colts but did not play a snap. Starter Greg Mancz was limited in practice throughout the week and is questionable to play because of a groin injury.
