DOLPHINS’ TUA TAGOVAILOA LEAPFROGS COWBOYS’ DAK PRESCOTT TO REGAIN NO. 1 SPOT IN MIAMI HERALD’S UPDATED NFL QUARTERBACK RANKINGS; BUCS’ BAKER MAYFIELD WINS WEEK 15 TITLE: Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield scores a 52.05-point game to win the Week 15 title and leap from 16th place to ninth for the season in the Miami Herald’s updated NFL quarterback rankings. He is the third straight unexpected winner, following weekly titles by Jake Browning and, last week, Zach Wilson. In the race for No. 1 overall, Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa rides a solid 37.20-point game back into the season lead ahead of Dallas Dak Prescott. Tua has led for a league-leading seven weeks this season but not since Week 11. Our ratings system is cumulative not percentile-based, rewarding players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. Because it is cumulative, players who had a bye took a temporary that evened out to what is now a level playing field for the stretch run. This is the 26th year for the Herald’s Passer Success System (PASS) rankings, which began in 1998 with Steve Young the inaugural season champion. Our ratings formula factors accuracy, passing yardage, touchdown/interception ratio and team result. They are passer ratings per se and do not include a QB’s running statistics.
