Dominique Robinson, a defensive end/linebacker for the Miami University RedHawks, was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round - 174th overall - of the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday.
"There's a lot to work with for Dominique Robinson coming off the edge as a pass rusher," ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said. "With his length and his athleticism ... with some coaching what he could become."
The 6-foot-4 7/8, 253-pound Robinson impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine. The 41-inch vertical jump he recorded was the fourth-best by a defensive lineman since 2003, per NFL Network. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 25 times, second-best among defensive ends.
Social media reactions, including an all-access look at Robinson's draft experience from @MiamiOHFootball tweeted Monday:

Robinson, selected to participate in the Senior Bowl, had 29 tackles - including 8.5 for loss - with 4.5 sacks and four hurries during the 2021 season to earn third-team all-MAC honors. He had nine tackles and two sacks the previous season, shortened to three games by the pandemic.
Recruited as a quarterback, Robinson volunteered to switch from receiver to defensive end in 2020. In 12 games over his first two seasons at MU, Robinson had 27 catches for 452 yards with four touchdowns.
NFL.com's Chad Reuter on Robinson:
Robinson was a productive quarterback at Canton McKinley High School in Ohio, but signed as a receiver for the RedHawks. He played in seven games as a reserve as a true freshman in 2017 and scored four touchdowns on just 13 receptions (156 yards, 12.0 per) in 12 games with five starts in 2018. Robinson started eight of 14 games played in 2019 (14-296-21.1) before making the move to defense. The team's 2020 season was shortened due to COVID-19, but he showed glimpses of talent as a pass rusher (nine tackles, 2.5 for loss with two sacks). Though Robinson did not start in 2021, MAC coaches appreciated his blossoming talent enough to vote him third-team all-conference (29 tackles, 8.5 for loss with 4.5 sacks in 12 games).
