There are two things I-and Domino's-know to be true: 1) New Yorkers love their pizza and 2) Americans love their oversized foods. These facts have seemingly made their way to Japan where a 1KG Cheese New Yorker pizza is now on menus. Per Kotaku and Domino's Japan, the just-released pizza has a full 2.2 pounds of mozzarella cheese on top. Yep, they know us well.
The pizza is even bigger than a large Domino's pie in the U.S.-it measures 40 centimeters across, which equals about 15.7 inches. A large pie in the U.S. is 14 inches in diameter, while a medium is 12 and a small 10, for comparison. Despite being just dough, sauce, and cheese, a slice will set you back 478 calories; an entire pie, 3,824, OY. It's not cheap, either-Domino's lists the price online as 3,300 yen, or about $30.
A tweet shows a comparison between the New Yorker pizza and a regular medium pizza from Japan, and the size difference is pretty astonishing. From the looks of it, two pounds of cheese makes for the ULTIMATE cheese pull.

According to Kotaku, the specialty pizza will only be around for two weeks, so unfortunately it's unlikely you or I will make it to Japan to try it. For anyone who is there, let us know how it is! Also on the Domino's Japan "New Yorker" menu: the Big Philly Cheese Steak pizza, the Big Pepperoni, and the Quattro Cheese Steak New Yorker.
