Don Pablo's Tex Mex Restaurant Shuts Down Moorestown Location

MOORESTOWN, NJ - The Don Pablo’s Tex-Mex restaurant in Moorestown has permanently closed, joining several other restaurants in the township that have recently shut their doors.

The Don Pablo’s Moorestown Facebook page lists the location as being permanently closed, and a phone call to the Moorestown restaurant was redirected to the Deptford location. The company has also removed the location from its website.

Signs that were posted on the door to the Nixon Drive location in the East Gate Square shopping center informed residents that Don Pablo’s had closed permanently earlier this week, the Courier Post reports.

“To our valued guest, this location is now CLOSED. Thank you for your business, and we hope to serve you at another location very soon,” read one sign, according to the report.

In 2016, Don Pablo’s parent company filed for bankruptcy protection. In doing so, Rita’s Restaurant Corp. cited “overall weakness in the casual-dining sector and the encroachment of fast-casual Mexican chains.”

It was looking to restructure its debts while continuing to maintain its current locations, which totaled between 12 and 16 at the time. As of Friday, there were three locations left in three states, according to the company’s website. The company launched in 1985 in Lubbock, Texas, and grew to about 120 restaurants at its peak.

Don Pablo’s is at least the fourth restaurant to close in the township this year. Earlier this year, Catelli Duo and Distrito both closed at the Moorestown Mall. In August, Pei Wei closed on the corner of Route 38 and Nixon Drive.

Plenty of business is coming into the township, too. Hash House A Go Go and Joe Italiano's Maplewood are a number of new businesses coming to the Moorestown Mall. Homesense has already opened in the spot previously occupied by Macy's.
