The holidays can be stressful, especially if you don’t have time to plan ahead.
To take some of the pressure off of Thanksgiving, The Modesto Bee has put together a last-minute guide to everything from restaurants and grocery stores to entertainment options.
Here’s where you can eat, shop and have fun in Modesto on Thursday.
Where can I eat Thanksgiving dinner? Get to-go meals?
Don’t feel like cooking on Thanksgiving? Here are some of the Modesto restaurants offering dine in, pre-order and to-go meals:
Black Bear Diner, 2200 Plaza Parkway, is serving up turkey, ham or prime rib meals with a choice of soup or salad, cornbread muffin, red-skinned mashed potatoes, gravy, house-made cornbread stuffing, Italian green beans and a slice of pumpkin pie. The meals are available for dine in, carryout or delivery beginning 11 a.m. Thursday. Famil- style or single entree meals can be pre-ordered on the restaurant’s website starting Monday.
Marie Callender’s, 3500 Coffee Road, will have individual Thanksgiving day dinners, group feasts and pre-ordered whole pies. Adult and kids individual dinners come with a choice of turkey or ham, a starter, sides and a slice of pumpkin or apple pie. Feasts serve four to eight people; you can choose ham, turkey or both, plus either a whole pumpkin or apple pie. Other pies are also available for pre-order. All feasts come with apple-sage stuffing, fire-roasted yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, vegetables and cornbread. Add-ons and sides are also available.
The Fruit Yard, 7948 Yosemite Blvd., will serve a Thanksgiving buffet with turkey and stuffing, ham, prime rib, dungeness crab, lamb, salmon, mashed potatoes, candied yams, a salad bar, a dessert bar and more. Buffet hours will be between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday. The restaurant is also offering pre-ordered meals that serve 10 to 12 people, with a choice of turkey or ham plus sides.

CVS: McHenry Avenue location open 24 hours; Standiford Avenue location open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Foodmaxx: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Raley’s: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Safeway: 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Save Mart: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sprouts: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walgreens: 24-hour locations open; all pharmacies closed
WinCo Foods: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What to do after Thanksgiving dinner
Looking to entertain friends and family members? Here are some options in Modesto on Thursday.
Brenden Theatres, 1021 10th St., will be showing Disney animated movie “Wish” at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
Regal Modesto, 3969 McHenry Ave., will be showing “Napoleon,” “Wish,” “Next Goal Wins,” “Thanksgiving,” “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” “Trolls Band Together,” “The Marvels” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s.”
Stretch your legs on Thanksgiving morning at the MJC Turkey Trot 5k Run and Gobbler Walk at Tuolumne River Regional Park, 1200 Tioga Drive in Modesto.
Adults can register for the 5k for $25. The cost to register kids for the half-mile run/walk is $20, and for $30, kids can register for the half mile and the 5k. Pre-registration ends Tuesday at midnight. Walk-in registration then begins.
