Donald Trump Jr., Tracy Lawrence to headline Bossier rally for Jeff Landry in governor's race

Donald Trump Jr. and country music artists Tracy Lawrence and Gary Levox will headline a fundraising rally and concert in Bossier City next week for Republican Jeff Landry's Louisiana governor's campaign.

Tickets for the Sept. 13 event at The Stage at Silver Star are $50. They can be bought online at https://secure.anedot.com/louisiana-first-fund/sep13gotvrally.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the rally beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Landry has secured the endorsement of former President Donald Trump and his son in the race to replace Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards, who is term limited.

It's the second such Trump-style rally Landry has organized in the race. He hosted a concert and rally at the Texas Club in Baton Rouge last month during qualifying.

Other major candidates in Oct. 14 primary election race include:

Republicans Sharon Hewitt, a state senator, Richard Nelson, a state representative, John Schroder, state treasurer, and Stephen Waguespack, former president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry;

Edwards' former Louisiana Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson, who has consolidated Democratic support; and Independent attorney Hunter Lundy, who has been described as a Christian nationalist.

The top two finishers in the Oct. 14 primary election will advance to the Nov. 18 runoff election unless a candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in the primary, which is unlikely.
