A spokesman for former President Donald Trump's oldest son tweeted Wednesday morning that Donald Trump Jr.’s account on X, the social-media site once known as Twitter, had been “hacked” in the wake of several since-deleted posts, including one that falsely claimed Donald Trump Sr. had died, according to various media reports.
“I’m sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024,” said one tweet posted early Wednesday from the Trump Jr.'s account, according to the New York Post and other outlets.
Later Wednesday morning, former President Trump posted an unrelated message on his Truth Social platform.
By 9 a.m. ET, the hacked tweets had been deleted, The New York Post reported.
Andrew Surabian, the spokesman for Trump Jr., posted the tweet that said the president’s oldest son’s account had been hacked and that reports of Trump Sr.'s death were “obviously not true,” according to the New York Post.
According to media accounts, other tweets from Trump Jr.’s X account said “North Korea is about to get smoked” and “When I become president I'm going to burn the SEC.”
FYI: This is obviously not true. Don's account has been hacked. https://t.co/2ulyCPqhDx
