Donald Trump Is a Monster in Green Day’s ‘Troubled Times’ Music Video
Green Day is not shy about its disdain for Donald Trump, and it’s on full display in the band’s lyric video for new single “Troubled Times” off the new album “Revolution Radio.”
The video, which was released Monday ahead of the president-elect’s inauguration ceremony on Friday, depicts Trump as some kind of monster (see picture above).
The mix of historical imagery from the fight for civil rights and women’s suffrage seems to suggest that the rock band thinks Trump’s presidency will usher in another era of civil unrest in America.

“What good is love and peace on Earth/when it’s exclusive?/Where’s the truth in the written word/if no one reads it?” frontman Billy Joe Armstrong sings in the first verse. “A new day dawning/comes without warning/so don’t think twice/we live in troubled times.”
This is the band’s second high-profile attack on Trump. While performing the single “Bang Bang” on the American Music Awards, Armstrong subbed in lyrics, “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist U.S.A.”
Green Day enjoyed massive success in the past from injecting political messages into music. The band’s politically charged 2004 album “American Idiot” was its first No. 1 album in the U.S., and went on to sell 3.4 million copies, as well as inspire a hit Broadway musical of the same name.
