Donald Trump has released a statement following his indictment, calling the decision a “witch-hunt” that will “backfire massively on Joe Biden”.
He is the first former president in US history to face criminal charges after the Manhattan grand jury investigating his role in a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels voted to indict him.
“I believe this witch-hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden,” Mr Trump said in his statement.
He added that his movement will aim to “throw every last one of these crooked Democrats out of office”.
