Donald Trump Tweets: Walls Are All The Rage

The morning after President Donald Trump’s chief adviser Ann Coulter told HBO’s Vice News that the border wall building/government shutdown is an act of “self preservation because he is dead in the water if he doesn’t build that wall. Dead, dead, dead,” Trump snapped to, with vigorous wall-tweeting:

“There are now 77 major or significant Walls built around the world, with 45 countries planning or building Walls. Over 800 miles of Walls have been built in Europe since only 2015. They have all been recognized as close to 100% successful. Stop the crime at our Southern Border!”

From there, Trump leaps to his “it is becoming more and more obvious that the Radical Democrats are a Party of open borders and crime” base-shoring argument. “They want nothing to do with the major Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border,” he tweeted. To which he added the rally cry: “#2020!”

Trump famously ambushed Republicans when he walked away from a border security compromise he had indicated he would sign, when Coulter and other media alt-righters popular with his base berated him for “caving.”

Trump’s tweets followed a WhIte House announcement that its economists have doubled their estimated impact of the shutdown on the nation’s economic growth.
