Donate items in Oak Ridge this weekend to help Ky. flood victims

AMVETS Post 2, 190 Adams Lane, Oak Ridge is collecting items all weekend for the victims of the floods in Kentucky.

A 26-foot moving truck will be parked outside the AMVETS location from 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, through Sunday, Aug. 7, at 9 p.m. — enabling people to drive by and drop off a donation.

It's an effort by the AMVETS and its Ladies Auxiliary 2 to help the people in Clay, Knott and Perry counties, according to a flier.

Suggested donation items include diapers for both children and adults, baby food, wipes, soap, nonperishable food items, personal toiletries, gloves, first aid items, cleaning supplies, hand tools, tarps, trash bags, totes, generators, dog and cat food, over-the-counter medicine, gasoline gift cards, and drinks such as water, Gatorade or Powerade.
