Donations being accepted for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

Donations are being accepted for the victims of the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey and Syria at the Monroe County Office Building and local DMV offices.

The drive is being coordinated by the Turkish Society of Rochester, which will be shipping the material goods.

County Executive Adam Bello said the community was ready to assist and expressed his thanks to the Turkish Society for their help in mobilizing the effort.

Monroe County Clerk Jamie Romeo said that the community would stand with the people of Turkey and Syria in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

Nihat Selcuk, president of the Turkish Society of Rochester, expressed gratitude to Bello and Monroe County for their help in their time of crisis.

Donations, including non-prescription medication, baby diapers, baby formula, cleaning supplies, and winter wear, can be dropped off at the County Executive Building at 39 W. Main Street or at the Rochester, Greece, Henrietta and Irondequoit DMV buildings during normal business hours.

All donations will be shipped out on Friday at the end of the day due to the dire need for relief supplies.
