Don't Be Basic: Real Housewives Of Dubai's Chanel Ayan Shares Her Secret Triple-Wig Hack To Serve Luxurious Looks

Chanel Ayan is THAT girl! The Real Housewives of Dubai cast member has become an audience favorite with her over-the-top style, incomparable beauty, and unapologetic confidence. Ayan embodies her opening credits tagline, “They don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. They hate me because they are basic.” She’s also part of BRAVO’s first international group in the Housewives franchise.

Unlike most cast members, she doesn’t come from a picture-perfect background. As Shadow & Act previously reported, the Somalian-Ethiopian beauty grew up in a traditional religious family in Kenya. And unfortunately, under the guise of her family, was a victim of forced genital mutilation when she was just 5-years-old. Ayan has shared that the cultural practice is to “force young girls to remain a virgin until marriage.”

Ayan eventually had the gruesome procedure reversed and used the traumatic event to fuel her purpose in life.

In a previous episode of RHODubai, Ayan opened up about the mutilation and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father. The 44-year-old proudly claimed victory over her past, saying, “I’m a survivor!”

Her survivor mindset led to Ayan building a successful career in modeling. And being the owner of a talent agency and makeup brand, Ayan Beauty. Her cosmetic brand is made in collaboration with celebrity makeup artist Toni Malt.

While some might see the ultra-glamorous lifestyle of Ayan and her castmates as extra, she is very vocal about being more than just a pretty face who loves the finer things in life.

“We are too glamorous. We are too funny. We are too outgoing. We are dramatic,” Ayan told WWD.

“We are also mothers. You get to see every one of us showing [our] lives, and we are all literally incredible women in different ways,” she said. “So you get to see all that from us, and we are very open. I think that’s the best thing about us. We’re so proud of our lives.”

Ayan also spoke about her need to command attention in every room she enters with her style.

“My style is as big as my personality: outrageous,” she said. “I bring drama with my fashion.”

And how does Ayan bring big drama? With very big hair, of course.

In a recent TikTok video, celebrity hairstylist Janel “Cocoa Mane” Smith shared behind-the-scenes footage of Ayan’s BravoCon look. And while preparing the reality star for the day, she let viewers in on a wig hack that was anything but basic.

In the video, the luxuriously long, thick, bouncy, curly mane that Ayan rocked at BravoCon was actually a combination of three Sensationnel What Lace “Latisha” wigs, which can be purchased on Amazon. They’re priced at $55-$80 depending on the color.

“Damn Chanel, you look like a Barbie!” Smith said.

“I know. Do you know why? Because I have on three wigs,” Ayan says as she flips her hair. “Three wigs, and it looks gorgeous.”

Chanel’s finished look was a fan favorite on the BravoCon stage, as she paired her triple wig hairdo with a beautiful ball gown.
