Don't have dinner plans for Thanksgiving? Here are some options in and near Hagerstown

Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and prioritize the important things in life. Cooking and spending time in the kitchen all day might not be one of those priorities.

Or, maybe you're a medical professional, emergency responder or other person working on Thursday.

Regardless, there might be another option. A few establishments in the Hagerstown area will be open on Thanksgiving for eat-in and takeout.

• Fireside restaurant, 1716 Underpass Way in Hagerstown, is open Thanksgiving Day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, plus it's offering to-go platters for orders placed before Thursday.

To-go platters are $199 and include, fried chicken, prime rib, sliced turkey, shrimp, mini crab cakes, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, rolls with butter and assorted desert.

Fireside also will have an eat-in buffet that includes all of those items, plus green bean casserole, sweet potatoes casserole, cranberry relish, and a soup and salad bar.

• Bulls and Bears restaurant, 38 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown, is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m with a limited menu. The restaurant recommends making a reservation ahead of time because seating will be limited.

Some of the highlights of the menu include "The Thanksgiving Plate," turkey, ham, green beans, whipped potatoes, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Prime rib will be offered as well as cranberry balsamic salmon served with broccoli and roasted potatoes. For dessert, the establishment is offering pumpkin cheesecake and warm apple pie.

• The Hagerstown Diner, 431 Dual Highway, is open 5 a.m. to midnight as another alternative option. It might be a good place to hit for early Black Friday shoppers.

• Carriage House Inn isn't in Hagerstown, but not too far away at 200 S. Seton Ave. in Emmittsburg, Md. The restaurant will be hosting a Thanksgiving buffet featuring prime rib, turkey with gravy, bourbon glazed Atlantic salmon, ham with grilled pineapple, vegetable alfredo over penne and sides. The buffet is $40 per adult and $15 for children 4 to 12-years-old.

• Also not in Hagerstown, but near the Interstate 70-270 interchange, is Dutch's Daughter, 581 Himes Ave., Frederick. A Thanksgiving Day buffet runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reservations are required to hold your spot. Adults cost $63.95 per person, children ages 6 to 10 cost $26.96 each. Children 5 and younger are $5. The buffet includes turkey, ham, steamed shrimp, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potato rounds topped with marshmallow sauerkraut, roasted veggies, an assortment of rolls and the choice of pecan or pumpkin pie. There will be a few extras like fried oysters, crab dip, garden salad and fruit salad.

Thanksgiving pre-orders will be available for pickup between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The cost is $220 for four people and includes most items on the buffet, except oysters, crab dip and garden and fruit salad.
