STURGEON BAY - Tonya Felhofer has been named CEO of the Door County YMCA, its board of directors announced Thursday.

Felhofer has been with the Door County Y for several years, serving as its financial development director and for the last year as its mission advancement executive. She was instrumental in leading successful annual campaigns during her time with the Door County organization, most recently its Heart of the Community Capital Campaign that is expected to reach its goal by year’s end.

Announcing the hire in a news release, the YMCA board cited Felhofer's experience with the organization in financial development, marketing and membership along with strong relationships she developed with donors, members, staff and the Door County community.

Felhofer is taking the CEO position effective Dec. 5. She replaces Steve Harty, who served as interim CEO since Sept. 7 after Heidi Erickson resigned to become branch executive for the YMCA of the Fox Cities site in Greenville.

The Door County YMCA has 170 full- and part-time staff serving more than 8,800 members in Door County from its Sturgeon Bay and Northern Door campuses. For more information, call 920-743-4949 (Sturgeon Bay) or 920-868-3660 (Fish Creek) or visit doorcountyymca.org.
