Dora, Logan squads gain finals at Elida

Dec. 10—ELIDA — Dora and Logan were slated to meet on Saturday night for the boys and girls championships in Elida's Tiger Invitational.

In boys semifinal action on Friday night, Dora rolled to a 64-44 victory over the Clovis junior varsity while Logan needed overtime to topple the host Tigers 64-59. On the girls' side, with the same matchups, Dora edged the Clovis JV 40-36 and Logan defeated Elida 48-14.

Boys — Six-foot-4 senior Steven Masini scored 35 points while junior Cole Kircher added a personal-best 16 in Dora's win. Leading 8-5 at the quarter, the Coyotes (6-0) dominated the Wildcats 41-19 over the middle two stanzas.

Johnny Molina netted 16 points and Kohen Matus tallied 14 for Clovis.

Elida (2-4) carried a seven-point lead into the final quarter before the Longhorns rallied to send it into OT, then outscored the Tigers 12-7 in the extra session.

Sophomore Diego Sanchez had 21 points for Logan (4-1) and junior Kaeden Stoner added 11. For the Tigers, senior Mason Pritchett led the way with 15 points and senior Jose Jimenez netted 11.

Girls — Dora (6-2) carried a nine-point lead into the final stanza and held on behind 19 points from junior Bre'Ann Rodriguez and 11 from junior Faith Jasso. Top scorer for the Lady Wildcats was freshman Brynn Petner with eight.

Logan (4-1) built a 17-4 lead at the quarter and rode 20 points from freshman Desta Rose past the Lady Tigers. Freshman Hattie Bilbrey scored seven points and eighth-grader Reatta Munsell had six for Elida (1-4).
