Dormont shooting leads to Liberty Bridge crash

Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Dormont that resulted in a police chase and crash on the Liberty Bridge.

Dormont police responded to a report of shots fired around 4:28 a.m. in the 2800 block of Broadway Avenue, according to a news release from Allegheny County police, who are assisting with the investigation.

Officers observed a vehicle flee the scene and attempted to stop the driver on West Liberty Avenue but lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle, , a white Chevrolet Camaro, was found crashed on the Liberty Bridge near the ramp to the Boulevard of the Allies, within city limits. Three of the vehicle’s four occupants sustained non-life threatening injuries and are being treated at area hospitals, according to police, and the fourth occupant was uninjured.

Investigators later found out there was a fight outside a residence on Broadway Avenue followed by an exchange of gunfire. After the shots were fired, multiple people fled the area, including those in the Camaro. There were no reported injuries from the gunfire.

The investigation continues.
