Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can would be "extremely" happy to see his former team-mate Jadon Sancho return to the club.

"I think a lot of Jadon. He is a player who makes a difference, 100%," Can told Sky at the Bundesliga club's mid-season training camp in Marbella, Spain.

Manchester United winger Sancho is always good for a goal and an assist, he said.

"Jadon will definitely help us if he comes. He's extremely talented." The pair won the German Cup together with Dortmund in 2021.

German newspaper Bild reported that an agreement had been reached between United and Dortmund over a loan deal for the 23-year-old England international.

According to the WAZ newspaper, however, it is unlikely that Sancho will arrive in Marbella on Friday. A further report from the Ruhr Nachrichten said a planned flight on a private plane from Manchester to Marbella had been cancelled.

In Marbella, everything has been prepared for a medical examination in a private clinic, the report added.

Media are speculating that Dortmund will pay €5 million ($5.5 million) for the loan until the end of the season but that the deal does not include a purchase option. Sancho's contract in England runs until June 2026.

Sancho has not played for more than four months after falling out with United coach Erik ten Hag.

He moved from Dortmund to the English giants for $93 million in 2021 but his career then stalled and he lost his England place.

Dortmund, who need reinforcements after a poor run of domestic form, are also interested in Chelsea's Ian Maatsen, according to reports.
