Dota 2: Team Liquid's Nisha win BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024's one-versus-one Solo Tournament, US$50,000 grand prize

Team Liquid's star midlaner Michał "Nisha" Jankowski won the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024's one-versus-one Solo tournament on Sunday (11 February) after a dominant run through some of the most skilled players in the event to claim a grand prize of US$50,000 out of the US$100,000 prize pool.

BetBoom Dacha Dubai's Solo tournament pit 40 players and coaches from the 12 participating teams in the main event, alongside a couple of non-participant invites, in a huge single-elimination bracket where the competitors showcased their skills in the classic one-versus-one midlane matchups.

In each one-versus-one matchup, the opposing players had a pool of 10 heroes which included four default picks in Pudge, Shadow Fiend, Puck, and Mirana as well as six more picked heroes that they would take turns picking and banning.

In order to win, a player had to score two kills, destroy their opponent's tower, force their surrender, or accrue the highest score out of their kills and last hits once the 15-minute duration has elapsed.

Nisha was seeded to the second round of the bracket then scored back-to-back wins over Team Falcons' offlaner Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf and midlaner Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak to reach the best-of-three quarterfinals. Nisha then defeated Virtus.pro midlaner Ilya "squad1x" Kuvaldin and BetBoom Team midlaner Danil "gpk" Skutin to reach the best-of-five grand finals.

Facing Nisha in the grand finals was Xtreme Gaming midlaner Guo "Xm" Hongcheng, who defeated Virtus.pro coach Sergei "G" Bragin, Team Liquid coach William "Blitz" Lee, LGD Gaming midlaner Gao "Setsu" Zhenxiong, and Team Liquid support player Samuel "Boxi" Svahn to get there.

Nisha won the first game of the grand finals, where both players were on Mirana, by scoring two kills after eight minutes. Xm bounced back in game two, where both players were on Shadow Fiend, by edging out Nisha with a 2-1 kill score after an action-packed four minutes.

In the pivotal third game of the finals, where both players were on Marci, Nisha scored first blood on Xm at the 5:30 mark. After getting level six off that kill, Nisha then used his ultimate and dove into Xm's tower to score the second kill at the cost of his first death to earn a commanding 2-1 series lead.

Game four saw both players field Meepo, where Nisha utterly dominated Xm, scoring the first kill at the 6-minute mark then forcing the GG call not long after to be crowned as BetBoom Dacha Dubai's Solo tournament champion.

With Nisha walking away with the grand prize of US$50,000, Xm settled for second place and US$20,000 in consolation.

The Solo tournament served as a sort of undercard event to the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 Playoffs, which will take place from 11 to 16 February.

Xtreme Gaming, Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, LGD Gaming, Team Falcons, Team Liquid, Azure Ray, and BetBoom Team will go through a double-elimination bracket to claim the lion's share of US$400,000 out of the main tournament's US$1 million prize pool.

With the dissolution of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) last year, the 2024 Dota 2 esports season will see a return to third-party tournaments being the main form of competition across the title.

BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 will kick off the 2024 season from 4 to 16 February in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and will feature 12 of the best Dota 2 teams from across the world fight for the lion's share of a US$1 million prize pool.
