Dough Co. Pizza opens a second location for its New York-style and Sicilian pies in Ankeny
Dough Co. Pizza, the Drake neighborhood pizza spot, now has a second location in Ankeny. The fast-casual restaurant brings its New York-style thin-crust pies to the Plaza Shoppes at Prairie Trail.
Pizzas take center stage, with crust options that include a hand-tossed New York-style, thick Sicilian squares with a crunchy crust and airy interior, and a cauliflower crust, popular with the vegan and gluten-free fans.
Diners can order the South Sider stacked with pepperoni, salami, banana peppers, roasted red peppers, and provolone; the Vegilante with green pepper, red onion, spinach, mushroom, roasted garlic, black olives, and Parmesan; the Giovanni adorned with roasted chicken, house pesto, cream cheese, Roma tomato, and Parmesan; and the Hawaiiowan with Canadian bacon and pineapple, as well as a taco and barbecue smoked. Each can be ordered by the pie or by the slice, and customers can build their own pizzas.
The restaurant also offers sandwiches such as the Italian, a Cuban, a grinder with sausage and beef, a turkey club with bacon, the Cali with avocado and goat cheese, and the hot Italian with Canadian bacon, capicola, banana peppers, jalapenos and provolone.

Salads, breadstick bites, meatballs slathered in red sauce, and wings paired with Buffalo, barbecue, honey sriracha or garlic Parmesan sauce round out the menu.
The restaurant also has craft beers from Iowa on tap.
The space offers room for 50 customers, as well as a patio.
Dough Co. Pizza is locally owned by the Orvis Horatio Group, made up of brothers Alec and Evan Davis, Dr. Austin Baeth, and Sam Hoyle. The Davis brothers have a decade of experience working in restaurant operations, Baeth is a Des Moines physician and a representative in the Iowa House, and Hoyle owns marketing agency New Tribe Media.
The Orvis Horatio Group also just announced plans to open Des Moines Biergarten at Water Works Park in Des Moines on Wednesday. The beer garden first arrived last September for two months.
The original Dough Co. Pizza opened in 2020 in the Drake neighborhood.
