Dover girls tennis opens title defense with shutout win over Merrimack
DOVER – The Dover High School girls tennis team picked up right where it left off last June – with a win.
The Green Wave, who beat Derryfield in last year’s Division I state championship, opened their title defense with a 9-0 win over Merrimack on Monday.
Taylor Wilson (No. 1, 8-0), Joci Faasen (No. 2, 8-2), Tory Vitko (No. 3, 8-1), Riya Ramdev (No. 4, 8-1), Mia Mozzoni (No. 5, 8-1) and Kate Ross (No. 6, 8-0) all won their respective singles matches.
In doubles, Wilson and Faasen, New Hampshire’s defending state doubles champions, won 8-0 at No. 1, Vitko and Ramdev won 8-2 at No. 2, and Sarah Bastille and Ashlynn Swierk won 8-1 at No. 3.

MERRIMACK - Pat Carroll (No. 3, 8-5), Nate Bigelow (No. 4, 8-5), Colby Bigelow (No. 5, 8-1) and Gavin Chu (No. 6, 8-3) all won their respective singles matches for Dover in its Division I season opener.
Diego Lopez and Judah Payeur won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, Carroll and Colby Bigelow won 8-3 at No. 2, and Nate Bigelow and Chu won 8-0 at No. 3.
