The Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., will host a four-part series on mindfulness at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7, March 7, April 4 and May 2.

Mindfulness is defined as paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally. Christine Kendle, the family and consumer sciences educator for Ohio State University Extension in Tuscarawas County, will teach the series. People can attend as many sessions as fits in their schedule.

The Feb. 7 session will teach the basics of mindfulness, the benefits of mindfulness and how mindfulness changes brains and bodies in positive ways. The March 7 session will focus on breathing as a cornerstone of mindfulness while exploring a variety of breathing exercises and techniques. The April 4 session will discuss being aware of intentional, thoughtful eating and the happiness food can bring to one’s life experience. The last session on May 2 will help people gain insights to incorporate mindfulness into all aspects of life.

Kendle’s primary areas of emphasis include nutrition, food safety, health, and wellness. She provides leadership to county parenting initiatives, financial literacy efforts and FCS-related 4-H programming.
