Castillo makes the Dover Public Library the first stop on her annual book tours, according to Sherrel Rieger, adult programming specialist for the library. Interlibrary loan coordinator Denise Campbell-Johnson has been mentioned the dedication of Castillo's latest book. Castillo has also mentioned Mark Oliver, a member of the Amish community who has been a source of information about traditions and practices for the author.

The program is a collaboration between the Reeves Victorian Home and Carriage House Museum and the Dover Public Library.

Rieger said it is an outgrowth of other programs, such as Shakespeare on the Steps, that have been staged at the Reeves. She said library staff wanted a different venue for the visit from Castillo, who draws so many fans to her library appearances that furniture must be arranged to make room for the audience.

The audience will be seated on the lawn. Guests are advised to bring blankets or folding chairs to Stories on the Steps. They may bring picnics. Mexican food will be available for purchase from the Don Polo food truck.

The Reeves Musuem is at 325 East Iron Ave. The event will move to the carriage house in case of rain.
