We’re down to 5 finalists for best ice cream in the Myrtle Beach area. Vote for your favorite

Last week, almost 100 Sun News readers recommended 20 ice cream shops from North Myrtle Beach to Murrells Inlet, and everywhere in between.

They loved the kind staff, varied flavors and friendly atmosphere of these Grand Strand creameries.

Now it’s your turn to vote for 2023’s best ice cream shop in the Myrtle Beach area.

Here are the five finalists:

Saltwater Scoops

Location: 9670 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach

Our readers loved the community atmosphere of Saltwater Scoops. “This family-run business truly treats everyone that walks in the door like family,” raved reader Janelle of North Myrtle Beach.

Favorite flavors include banana, salted caramel, maple walnut, chocolate pecan, honey vanilla and limited-edition fresh peach.

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream

Location: 3784 Renee Drive, Myrtle Beach

After shopping at the Highway 501 Tanger Outlets, get a sweet treat at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream.

The Carolina Forest location is a family affair for Shirley of Conway, who loves the ice cream cakes. “3 of my daughters and grandson work there. My oldest daughter has been there for 17 years.”

Be sure to bring your furry friend in the drive thru for a pup cup.

Meyer’s Ice Cream Parlor

Location: 1906 Highway 17 Business, Surfside Beach

If you like sundaes, you’ll love Meyer’s Ice Cream Parlor, across from Ocean Lakes Campground. Readers suggested getting your dark or milk chocolate hot fudge and Hershey’s ice cream in a homemade waffle bowl.

Sandy from Myrtle Beach wrote, “I’m a huge ice cream fan and have been everywhere. Meyer’s has far surpassed my expectations.”

Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream

Two locations: 3021 Highway 17 Business, Murrells Inlet and 1101 4th Ave., Conway

A rotating menu of flavors keeps Sun News readers coming back to Stella’s two locations, in Murrells Inlet and Conway. Flavors like lemon blueberry cheesecake, cookie butter and key lime pie were favorites of our readers.

Launa of Murrells Inlet wrote that the “beautiful outdoor dining area and lawn games keep the kiddos busy! And the smells are free!”

Melt

Location: 204 Main St., North Myrtle Beach

While ice cream fans cue up for Melt, readers said the line moves efficiently, and the sweet treats are worth it. Located right off Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach, our readers said they loved Melt’s homemade waffle cones and honey lavender and banana pudding flavors.

The GOAT flavor, a goat cheese ice cream with raspberry swirl, was a standout. Reader Avery wrote, “No matter what you pick, it will blow out your tastebuds!!!”

Time to pick the winner

You have until Tuesday, June 27 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time to vote for your favorite. Please note this poll is just for fun and isn’t scientific. The only prize is bragging rights.

What other Myrtle Beach-area ice cream shops did readers recommend?

While they didn’t make it into the top five, each of these creameries received multiple nominations from Sun News readers.
