Judge Howard Elliott Faught and his wife attend a dog show in Cambridge. Judge Faught was born in Buffalo, Ohio in 1907. He served as the prosecuting attorney of Guernsey County as a Democratic candidate, elected in 1940.

In April of 1945, Faught was appointed to the Guernsey County Court of Common Pleas, filling the unexpired term of Judge Charles S. Sheppard. The following year he became the first Democratic candidate elected to that position.

Appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court on Sept. 7, 1950, his term was short-lived as he had to win the write-in election in November of the same year, a feat he did not accomplish. Faught came in third, losing to Henry A. Middleton. Faught continued to serve in Cambridge with the law firm of Willis, Danello, Faught and Moorehead.

Buried in Northwood Cemetery, Judge Faught was one of only a few Ohio Supreme Court justices to come from the area.
