Downers Grove Coronavirus Update: 9 Percent Increase In Past Week

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The number of coronavirus cases in Downers Grove has increased by 9 percent in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD).

As of Oct. 7, the village had reported 766 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 834 as of Oct. 14.

In nearby Westmont, the number of coronavirus cases had increased by 5 percent. As of Oct. 7, there had been 594 cases reported in Westmont. The total number of cases reported in Westmont as of Oct. 14 was 623.

  • Sept. 30: 715

  • Oct. 7: 766

  • Oct. 14: 834

At press time, there have been 28 coronavirus-related deaths in Downers Grove, according to DCHD.

According to the DCHD website, was one active coronavirus cases in Downers Grove as of Oct. 14. In contrast, there were three active cases in Downers Grove on Oct. 7. According to county health officials, these numbers could be "much higher" due to unreported cases.
