Downpour from storm drenches San Diego: Road closures, outages and more

SAN DIEGO — A powerful storm wreaked havoc on San Diego County Monday, causing massive flooding, widespread electricity outages and countless road closures.

The storm, which was brought on by a weak atmospheric river, dropped multiple inches of rain on San Diegans over the span of roughly 12 hours.

Flash flooding occurred in nearly every neighborhood across the county, with reports of numerous water rescues and damage to roadways.

The flash flood warning for the county was lifted at 1 p.m. as the heaviest bouts of rain began to subside, but additional precipitation continued into Monday evening.

A flash flood warning remained in place for the San Diego River at Fashion Valley until midnight Tuesday.
