Downtown Akron Partnership names Kimberly Beckett as interim president

Downtown Akron Partnership has elevated longtime staff member Kimberly Beckett to vice president, and she will serve as interim president of the organization while the board searches for a permanent replacement.

Beckett was promoted after Suzie Graham, who served as DAP's president and CEO for 12 years, announced her departure earlier this month to become Akron's director of economic development under new Mayor Shammas Malik.

"Kimberly Beckett is an accomplished, proven leader who is deeply connected to the downtown community," said DAP Board President Julie Wesel. "Along with her dedicated team, she will provide DAP with continuity and maintain the level of excellence in serving the neighborhood through this transition.”

Beckett joined DAP in 2007 and has worked closely alongside Graham for 10 years. Most recently, she has served as the organization's director of business relations and development.

“I have learned so much under Suzie's leadership," Beckett said, "and I am excited to carry the momentum we have built over the years as we work alongside downtown stakeholders to move the neighborhood forward as a thriving and vibrant place for all people.”

In a news release announcing Beckett's appointment, Graham said she is grateful for her experience at DAP and proud of the steps the organization has taken to enrich the downtown experience.

"With complete confidence in the capable staff and dedicated board of directors, I am certain that the legacy of excellence we've built will not only endure but also flourish in the days ahead," Graham said.
