Downtown Appleton Farm Market returns Saturday for 30th season; Neenah market adds Kids' Day
APPLETON - The Downtown Appleton Farm Market will return Saturday to kick off its 30th season as a popular venue for everything from fresh fruit and cut flowers to artisan cheeses and baked goods.
"We're really excited about this year," said Jennifer Stephany, executive director of Appleton Downtown Inc., which organizes the market. "(There will be) a lot of fan favorites — the return of the roasted corn and the little doughnuts and your favorite coffee vendors and then, of course, all the produce and the hand pies. It's just a great opportunity to come downtown and spend the morning."
The farm market will occupy College Avenue between Appleton and Drew streets, plus Morrison Street and Houdini Plaza. Stephany said the best place to park is in the Red Parking Ramp.
The event has space for 130 to 140 vendors, some of whom have had a presence at the market for a couple of decades.
"This year, we're going to start out a little light, but it'll definitely fill in," Stephany said. "You're going to see a full market this summer. It's just we're light on hot food."
Live music also will be part of the market.
Stephany encouraged people to like the Downtown Appleton Farm Market's Facebook page. "We'll be doing some fun giveaways via Facebook," she said.

The Future Neenah Farmers Market at Shattuck Park in Neenah also is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Its kickoff was held last weekend, and the market will continue on Saturdays through Oct. 15.
The Neenah market features more than 40 vendors and has live music between 10 a.m. and noon.
New this year is "Kids' Day at the Market," which will take place every third Saturday of the month. The event is free and offers a bounce house, face painting and crafts centered around a theme: butterfly (Saturday), beach (July 16), back to school (Aug. 20), superhero (Sept. 17) and Halloween (Oct. 15).
