Downtown to become 'Fremont-ville' for holidays

FREMONT – Downtown Fremont Inc. will host the GenoaBank Holiday Events when downtown is turned into Fremont-ville. As part of Fremont-ville, downtown businesses will be decorating their storefronts for the season starting on Friday, Nov. 24.

The Fremont Community is being asked to vote on the Downtown Fremont Inc. Facebook Page for their favorite decorated storefronts until Dec. 3. The business with the most “Likes" will be the winner of a free year membership to Downtown Fremont Inc.

Tree lighting will be 7 p.m. Friday

Holiday festivities begin on Friday, Nov. 24 with the annual Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. at the corner of Front and Croghan Streets.

A trackless train ride will be available through the Downtown Historic District from 4 to 9 p.m. and is free. Hot and sweet treats will also be available while listening to caroling and dance performances.

Santa is in his house starting on Friday, Nov. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. before the TreeLighting for the whole family.

Santa will visit Friday nights, Saturdays

Santa visitation continues at the corner of Front and Croghan Streets 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays until Christmas. On Dec. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Grinch will be at the Santa House for photos.

Santa also will also have his mailbox ready to accept letters at his house anytime up untilDec. 18. Letters should be dropped into the mailbox to receive a free letter back from Santa, but make sure to have a return address on the letter.

Saturday, Nov, 25, is Small Business Saturday. While shopping Nov. 25 make sure to participate in the Fremont-ville Scavenger hunt. At the participating 12 businesses get a hunt card and uncover the code by Dec. 11 by putting completed hunt cards in Santa’s mailbox to be in a drawing for a Think Fremont Community E-Card with the value of $25.

The Indoor Holiday Market is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at the MoonShine Nightclub and The Jewel Ballroom. Take a break at 109 S. Front St. from the cold and grab a hot beverage of choice to meet the makers, keeping it unique and local.

Downtown Fremont is seeking vendors for the indoor market with limited spaces available. Cost is $45 for a spot, and vendors must provide their own table and chairs. Call 567-342-4758 to register and give payment over the phone.

Holiday Parade is 6 p.m. Dec. 2

The Fremont-ville Holiday Parade is 6 p.m. Dec. 2. This evening parade creates a sparkling atmosphere through downtown with the lighted light poles to the glistening floats and vehicles in the parade. To be a part of the parade, an entry form is required. The parade starts at Rodger Young Park and proceeds north on Front and State streets and ends on Front Street — on the north side of State Street.

Judging of entries will be for first through third places. This parade is also being announcedand filmed for the community.

Downtown Fremont Inc. also has many more free events planned in 2023 and New Year's Event and they will be posted at facebook.com/FremontNYE.
