Downtown Country Fair is Saturday

Sep. 29—WILLIMANTIC — Locals can enjoy music, hear authors read and much more during the 23rd annual Willimantic Downtown Country Fair on Saturday.

The fair, which is hosted by the Willimantic Food Co-op, will run from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. at Jillson Square.

"For the past 22 years, the Willimantic Food Co-op has hosted this fair, which celebrates our community and the many talented people who are part of it," Willimantic Food Co- op General Manager Alice Rubin said in a press release.

55 local vendors will sell homemade goods during the fair, including soap, bags, clothing, pottery, cards, honey and more.

For the first time, the organizers behind the fair partnered with the Willimantic Public Library and the Friends of the Willimantic Public Library to bring the 2nd Annual Eastern CT Children's Book Fair to the site.

The book fair will be held from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. at Jillson Square.

In addition to authors reading from their books, there will be a book bus with books for sale, including books from the featured authors. The bus is being run by River Bend Bookshop in Glastonbury.

Music will be played by local musicians and information will be provided by local organizations. There will also be a clothing swap, activities for kids and food.
