Downtown Detroit's Monroe Street Midway will be transformed into winter carnival
Bumper cars, an outdoor arcade, miniature golf with a Hockeytown twist and visits from Santa Claus are in store for downtown Detroit's Monroe Street Midway this winter.
The site just east of Campus Martius Park will be transformed into a winter carnival with family-friendly activities that will include rides, games and snacks from mid-November through the holidays.
Monroe Street Midway has hosted outdoor roller skating and other attractions the last two summers.

Bedrock Detroit, the commercial real estate firm that developed the site, announced the winter plans Monday:
Winter Bumper Cars – Try not to spin out on the slick rink, sponsored by RollerCade. $5 per session.
Arctic Slide – Ride an inner tube down the 20-foot high, 80-foot long slide, sponsored by Come Play Detroit. Free.
Puck-Putt – Grab a hockey stick and shoot the puck into the net along a 9-hole course, sponsored by Come Play Detroit. Free.
Midway Arcade – Pop-a-shot, dodgeball and more. 50 cents - $3 per play.
Food Favorites – Burgers, pierogis, homemade chili, chicken sandwiches and mac-and-cheese bites, plus gluten-free and vegan choices. Prices vary.
Santa Sightings – Santa will be available for photos from Nov. 18-Dec. 22 from 4-8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon-4 p.m. Sundays. Free.
The winter activities will be open Nov. 11 – Jan. 29. Entry into the Midway is free.
