Downtown Development Association to host 'Downtown Horns' band for 'Nite at the Obelisk' event

Aug. 2—The Downtown Development Association is hosting a concert by the Downtown Horns on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the obelisk on the greenway, which overlooks the river near the Sorlie Bridge on DeMers Avenue.

The free event runs at 6:30 to 10 p.m. Downtown Horns will take the stage at 7 p.m. and play until 10 p.m., according to Jill Proctor, a DDA employee.

Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Craft beer will be available for purchase from Half Brother and Rhombus Guys until about 9:30 p.m.

This is the last of three events in a series, "Nite at the Obelisk," organized by the DDA, Proctor said.

Downtown Horns is the Red River Valley's "premiere party band," according to the DDA website. The group has entertained audiences for more than 13 years, playing the most recognizable and danceable hits from the '50s to today.

In promoting the event, the DDA is encouraging visitors to enjoy a meal at their favorite downtown restaurant and then head to the obelisk to enjoy the outdoor entertainment.
